Greener than Shakespeare

One of my favorite theaters, the one who hosts one of my favorite acting troupes, went green last year, going off the grid. It cost them some money, but the people of Berkeley and the rest of the Bay Area's theater-going public stepped up and donated a lot of green for them to do it. It looks like they are going to save around ten thousand ($10,000) dollars a year!

Wow.

They say that they are going to use that money to help pay their artists. They must already be seeing the benefits of doing the right thing, seeing as how they hired one of the best, most iconic illustrators in the world to do all their press this season. I love R. Black! His book has 3-D sections, and he is simply quite awesome and incredibly good at what he does.

I saw "Mrs Warren's Profession" there a little while ago and enjoyed immensely, which with George Bernard Shaw is saying something.

If you're in the Bay, and you want to see a show, and many visitors do, you should do the green thing and see the intrepid little Shotgun Players at the super eco-friendly Ashby Stage. They're greener than the globe! Shakespeare's original Globe even.

Here's an article about their going solar.

Oh wow, That's such a cool idea!
I wish more places would go off the grid..Although, I suppose that IS a risk if you're not all that stable.
Ah well, kudos to the Ashby Stage then?
I think so ^-^

Word. I think it's awesome because they are one of the only small theaters I've been to that manages their indoor climate reasonably.
Also, they can get some incredible talent for their shows now that they're not throwing the cash away on power.
